Do you have a personal treasure, a family heirloom or a collection of objects, that you would like to donate to the Richmond Hill Artifact Collection, Sports Hall of Fame or Art Collection? Sharing your treasures, help to bring fresh perspectives to the existing collections and to areas of research as our history evolves.
The value of an object is increased when more is known about it. Who made it? How was it used? How did it come into your possession? All of these facts can be shared with others in our community at the Heritage Centre, Community Centre exhibits, outreach and tours.
For further information, please contact: Carol Hughes, Heritage Services Assistant – Curatorial and Education, Heritage Services, City of Richmond Hill at 905-780-2927 or by email carol.hughes at richmondhill.ca.
Old photographs, documents and records may also be of interest to the Richmond Hill Public Library and the collections it houses in the Mary-Lou Griffin Local History Room on the 4th Floor of the Central Branch near the corner of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. For more information, contact Peter Wilson, Local History and Genealogy Librarian, Richmond Hill Public Library at 905-884-9928 ext. 5068 or by email pwilson at rhpl.ca.
Note: The Society was very successful in facilitating the donation of multiple artifacts to the general collection in 2018. The Sports Hall of Fame is continuing to grow, so if you have any photos, badges, uniforms or memorabilia related to Richmond Hill sports (schools, local community or other events) call Carol and discuss the possibility of donating your items.
