Fundraising amalgamates the members talents and when an idea  requires a special event, the membership supports the initiative. We have successfully raised funds to maintain the RHHS bursary program, reached out to other worthy causes with donations and raised awareness of our Society though special events. In the past five years, a special Fashion Tea, Barn Raising Supper & Fete, and a wonderful Wedding Belles Tea raised sufficient funds to fulfill our fundraising goals.

High School Bursary Program
Through fundraising, the Society distributes a $500.00 bursary to a deserving high school student in our area that has shown a great interest in history and has maintained a high average in that subject.  A letter goes to the principal of the Richmond Hill High School to offer the bursary and set out the parameters for the choice of student we wish to bestow the bursary upon. Once the choice has been made the President of the Society attends the student’s school graduation and gives the bursary personally, at that time.

The Society is pleased to give this money for the student who shows promise in the area of history. We hope that the bursary is an encouragement to the students who do enter history as their major at university.
It is part of our ongoing fundraising initiatives that we plan for each year. Our intention is to maintain this bursary as the prototype of a variety of endeavours that the RHHS can be part of, in our community. If you wish to inquire about the bursary please contact Andrea Kulesh @ 905-884-2789.
